The official crime map for Mississauga and Brampton comes from Peel Regional Police, whose Crime Statistics and Maps page links to an interactive crime mapping application and a Community Data Platform. Statistics Canada’s 2025 figures put the Peel Regional Police Crime Severity Index (CSI) at 59.41, below the Canadian figure of 75.0 but up for the fifth year in a row, from 38.07 in 2020. Peel’s score is now close to the City of Toronto’s 59.98.

Data: Statistics Canada, police-reported crime statistics for 2025 (released 22 July 2026), Crime Severity Index for police services in Ontario. Figures are for the Peel Regional Police service area (Mississauga and Brampton); Statistics Canada does not publish a separate crime rate for this area in the tables we use. Map features described below were checked on the Peel Regional Police website. Comparisons and percentages not in the release are our own arithmetic. Updated 5 October 2026.

What the official Peel Region crime map shows

Peel Regional Police publish crime data on their Crime Statistics and Maps page. It has three useful parts:

  • Crime mapping application. An interactive map that the police describe as the tool “used by our analysts to map, visualize and analyze crime incident patterns within the Region of Peel”.
  • Crime statistics. Year-to-date figures plus full-year data back to 2023 for categories including homicide, robbery, break and enter, sexual violations, theft of and from motor vehicles, mischief, impaired driving and hate-motivated crime. Peel notes the data is “preliminary, unaudited and subject to revision”.
  • Community Data Platform. Dashboards on crime trends, top crime types, geographic patterns and per capita rates, alongside response times and staffing. Peel says the visuals are “for information purposes only and is not official statistics” and should not be read as relating to “a specific person, property or area”.

We could not confirm from Peel’s pages exactly how incident locations are placed on the map or how often it refreshes, so check the map’s own notes. Police maps typically place incidents at a nearby intersection or block rather than a precise address, for privacy.

How to use the Peel crime map, step by step

  1. Go to Peel Regional Police’s Crime Statistics and Maps page and open the crime mapping application.
  2. Search for the street, address or area in Mississauga or Brampton that you want to check.
  3. Filter by crime type. For a home, focus on break and enter and vehicle theft; for walking routes, robbery and assault matter more.
  4. Choose the longest time period available. A few weeks of data can look misleadingly quiet or busy.
  5. Compare with another part of Peel you know well, so you have a baseline.
  6. Read the map’s notes on preliminary data and location accuracy before drawing conclusions.

The limits of crime maps

  • Approximate locations. Incidents are usually generalized for privacy, so points can cluster at junctions or block centres.
  • Reported crime only. Statistics Canada found that in 2019 only about 29% of victimizations were reported to police.
  • Footfall. Shopping centres, transit hubs, busy commercial strips and the airport area all see far more people, and so more incidents, than quiet residential streets.
  • Preliminary versus official. Map figures can be revised. Statistics Canada’s CSI is the official, comparable measure and weights serious crime more heavily.

Peel crime in 2025: the key numbers

Statistics Canada publishes a Crime Severity Index for each Ontario police service. Here is Peel’s trend, with nearby services for comparison.

Police service CSI 2020 CSI 2024 CSI 2025 Violent CSI 2025
Peel Regional Police (Mississauga, Brampton) 38.07 57.01 59.41 76.90
Toronto Police (City of Toronto) 58.55 68.62 59.98 81.11
York Regional Police 38.51 53.57 50.28 63.17
Durham Regional Police 40.85 47.19 43.18 59.20
Halton Regional Police 22.76 31.20 30.61 26.26

Peel’s CSI rose about 4% in 2025 and about 56% since 2020 (our arithmetic). It was the only large GTA police service in this table whose score went up in 2025; Toronto, York, Durham and Halton all fell. Peel’s non-violent CSI was 52.92.

For context, Ontario’s CSI was 57.2 and Canada’s 75.0. Peel remains below the national level, but the gap with the City of Toronto has almost closed.

The full release is on Statistics Canada’s website. Police-service CSI figures cover everyone the service polices, so they describe the region as a whole rather than any single town, street or neighbourhood. Smaller areas can also swing more from year to year.
