Mississauga Crime Map 2026: How to Check Crime Near You

Mississauga neighbourhood with the Toronto skyline in the distance

The official Mississauga crime map is the Peel Regional Police crime mapping application, linked from the Peel Regional Police “Crime Statistics and Maps” page. It covers Mississauga and Brampton together. Statistics Canada’s 2025 data put the Peel Regional Police Crime Severity Index (CSI) at 59.41, about 21% below Canada’s 75.0 but up for a fourth straight year.

Data: Statistics Canada, police-reported crime statistics for 2025 (released 22 July 2026), Crime Severity Index for police services in Ontario (Table 35-10-0188-01) and incident rates for the Toronto census metropolitan area (Table 35-10-0177-01). Peel Regional Police map and statistics pages checked 7 October 2026; we link to them but do not reproduce their figures. Percentages not in the release are our own calculation. Updated 7 October 2026.

Where is the official Mississauga crime map?

The official Mississauga crime map is an interactive ArcGIS application run by Peel Regional Police, reached from the Crime Statistics and Maps page on peelpolice.ca. Peel describes it as the tool “used by our analysts to map, visualize and analyze crime incident patterns within the Region of Peel”.

The same page offers two other tools that are useful for Mississauga residents:

  • Year-to-date crime statistics for categories such as homicide, robbery, break and enter, sexual violations, motor vehicle theft, theft from vehicles, mischief, impaired driving and hate-motivated crime. On 7 October 2026 the page covered 1 January to 31 August 2026.
  • Annual statistics, which Peel says are reported to its Police Services Board and Regional Council by June of the following year.

Mississauga does not have its own police service, so there is no separate “City of Mississauga” crime map. The Peel map covers both cities, and you narrow it down by searching an address or zooming in. Our Peel Region crime map guide covers the regional tools in more depth.

How do I check crime near an address in Mississauga?

Checking crime near a Mississauga address works best when you combine the Peel map with the official yearly figures. These steps apply whether you are renting a condo near Square One or buying a house in a quieter part of the city:

  1. Open the Peel crime map. Go to the Peel Regional Police Crime Statistics and Maps page and launch the crime mapping application.
  2. Search the address and zoom to a radius of a few blocks. A single street is too small a sample.
  3. Filter by the crimes that matter to you. For a home: break and enter, theft of and from vehicles. For walking or commuting: robbery and assault.
  4. Use the longest time window available. A few weeks of data can look misleadingly quiet or busy.
  5. Compare with a part of Mississauga you know. A baseline tells you whether a cluster is unusual.
  6. Check the context. Read the official Peel trend below and our guide on how to check crime in your neighbourhood.
  7. Visit at different times of day, including evening, and talk to neighbours or the building manager.

What do Mississauga crime map dots really mean?

A dot on the Mississauga crime map is a police-reported incident placed at an approximate location, not proof of risk at that exact address. Three things shape the picture:

  • Footfall. Major shopping centres, the city centre, transit terminals and the Toronto Pearson airport area see far more people than residential streets, so they record more incidents. High counts there say little about risk to nearby residents.
  • Reporting. Statistics Canada’s 2019 victimization survey found only about 29% of incidents were reported to police, so maps show a portion of all crime.
  • Preliminary data. Peel marks its statistics as preliminary and subject to revision. Statistics Canada’s annual figures are the official, comparable measure.

We do not rank Mississauga neighbourhoods, because no official neighbourhood-level rate is published for Peel under an open licence we can use.

Is crime in Mississauga going up?

Crime severity in the Peel Regional Police area, which includes Mississauga, has risen every year since 2021, from a CSI of 37.38 to 59.41 in 2025, according to Statistics Canada. The 2025 rise was about 4%, smaller than in 2022 or 2023, but it came while Toronto, York, Durham and Halton all fell.

The Crime Severity Index is a Statistics Canada measure that weights each police-reported offence by its seriousness, with Canada in 2006 set at 100. Our Crime Severity Index explainer shows how it is calculated.

Police service CSI 2020 CSI 2024 CSI 2025 Change 2024–2025
Peel Regional Police (Mississauga, Brampton) 38.07 57.01 59.41 +4%
Toronto Police Service (City of Toronto) 58.55 68.62 59.98 −13%
York Regional Police 38.51 53.57 50.28 −6%
Durham Regional Police 40.85 47.19 43.18 −8%
Halton Regional Police 22.76 31.20 30.61 −2%
Canada (all police services) 73.92 78.84 75.01 −5%

Source: Statistics Canada, Table 35-10-0188-01 and Table 35-10-0026-01. Year-on-year changes are our calculation.

Peel’s CSI is now almost twice Halton’s 30.61 (our calculation), even though both are suburban GTA regions. Peel’s violent CSI was 76.90 and its non-violent CSI 52.92 in 2025. For the full safety picture, see is Mississauga safe?

Which crimes should Mississauga residents watch on the map?

Vehicle theft is the crime most worth watching on the Mississauga crime map: the Toronto census metropolitan area (CMA), which includes Mississauga, recorded 238 motor vehicle thefts per 100,000 people in 2025, about 27% above Ontario’s 187. Statistics Canada does not publish offence-by-offence rates for Peel alone, so the Toronto CMA is the closest official guide.

Offence, Toronto CMA Rate per 100,000 (2025) Rate per 100,000 (2024) Canada rate per 100,000 (2025)
All Criminal Code offences (excl. traffic) 3,950 4,177 5,585
Motor vehicle theft 238 325 201
Breaking and entering 169 184 262
Shoplifting ($5,000 or under) 386 328 502
Robbery 60 73 55
Violent crime 987 1,018 1,443

Source: Statistics Canada, Table 35-10-0177-01. Figures are for the whole Toronto CMA, not Mississauga alone.

Break-ins in the Toronto CMA were about 35% below the national rate in 2025 (our calculation), while vehicle theft stayed above it despite a sharp fall. Our guide to car theft in Canada covers prevention.

How does the Mississauga crime map compare with other GTA maps?

The other large GTA police services publish their own crime data tools, so you can compare Mississauga with the rest of the region:

  • Toronto crime map: the Toronto Police Service public safety data portal, plus open neighbourhood crime rates.
  • Halton crime map: Oakville, Burlington and Milton, the lowest CSI of the large Ontario police services in Statistics Canada’s table.
  • York Region crime map: Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and Newmarket.

For a ranked comparison of the four regional services and the City of Toronto, read safest places to live in the GTA, and for province-wide context see most dangerous cities in Ontario. Brampton shares Mississauga’s police data, so the same figures apply to both cities.

Our own Canada crime map puts the official Statistics Canada figures for every metro area side by side.
