Canada Crime Map is free to read. This page explains how the site may earn money and how we keep that separate from our content.
Advertising
The site may show advertising in future, for example through advertising networks such as Google AdSense, Ezoic or Mediavine. Ads will be labelled or clearly distinguishable from our content.
We do not choose individual ads shown by a network, and an ad appearing on the site is not an endorsement. If you see an ad that seems misleading or inappropriate next to crime content, please tell us at ggshop@safety-app.uk.

Affiliate links
Some articles may include affiliate links to products or services relevant to the topic, for example home or tenant insurance and home security. If you click an affiliate link and buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
- Articles that contain affiliate links will say so.
- We only link to products where a link is genuinely useful to the reader in context.
- A commission never affects the crime figures, rankings or conclusions in an article.
- We do not claim to have tested a product unless we have.
Our own product: Safety App Canada
Safety App Canada is our own app, developed by the same company that runs this site, GG Straps Limited. It is not yet available in app stores. Many articles end with a short box about the app. Where we mention or compare it in an article (for example, in our guide to personal safety apps in Canada), we state that it is our product, and we describe its features as planned until they are available.
When the app launches, it is planned to be a paid subscription with a free trial. Details are on the app page.
Editorial independence
- Advertisers, affiliate partners and sponsors have no influence over what we write, which places we cover or how we rank them.
- Our rankings are based only on official data and our published methodology. No place, company or partner can pay to change them.
- We do not accept payment to publish or remove content about any city, area or organisation.
- Any sponsored content we ever publish will be clearly labelled as sponsored.
