Does Abbotsford have a crime map?
Yes, the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) publishes an online crime map with incidents from the past six months in the City of Abbotsford. The map opens from the police Crime Mapping page, whose “View the Online Crime Map” link leads to the CityProtect mapping service.
The police describe the map as a general picture of local crime, not a complete account. These are the rules listed on the AbbyPD page (checked 20 October 2026):
- Six months of data. The map holds the past six months of incidents; the advanced search shows up to 30 consecutive days at a time.
- Nightly updates. The crime types shown are updated every night.
- Not every crime type. Some offences are left off the map and its reports because of privacy concerns for victims and their families.
- Records can change. Icons and reports may be reclassified after review and investigation.
- No map-only comparisons. The department discourages comparing areas based only on the map.
The map has no open-data licence, so we link to it rather than reproduce figures from it. The numbers in this guide come from Statistics Canada.
How do I use the Abbotsford crime map?
- Open the map from the AbbyPD Crime Mapping page and search for the address or area you care about.
- Pick one crime type, such as break and enter or theft from vehicle, instead of viewing every icon at once.
- Use the advanced search to set a 30-day window, then step back through the six months to see whether a pattern repeats.
- Read icons as reports, not proof. An icon shows a police report near a location; it does not tell you the risk on that street.
- Compare with the city-wide picture below and with our Abbotsford crime rate guide, which covers the metro-area numbers in more depth.
Reports cluster where people gather and shop: commercial strips, malls and main roads. A quiet area on the map is not a guarantee, and a busy one is not a reason to avoid it. Our guide on how to check crime in your neighbourhood explains the limits of police maps.

- Violent crime was 8% above the national rate at 1,561 per 100,000, and the violent severity index rose sharply because more serious cases weigh more, including eight homicides against three in 2024. Small counts swing the index; compare cities in violent crime in Canada by city.
- Break-ins were at the national level (260 against 262 per 100,000) and down 4% in number. On the map, select break and enter to see where reports cluster.
