The official Saskatoon crime map is the Saskatoon Police Service’s online map of reported crime incidents and traffic collisions, which shows the general area of each incident rather than its exact location. Statistics Canada’s 2025 figures put the Saskatoon metro area’s Crime Severity Index (CSI) at 98.9, down 7% on 2024 but above the Canadian figure of 75.0. The crime rate fell 5% to 7,532 incidents per 100,000 people.

Data: Statistics Canada, police-reported crime statistics for 2025 (released 22 July 2026), Crime Severity Index and incident-based crime tables. Figures are for the Saskatoon census metropolitan area. Map features described below were checked on the Saskatoon Police Service website. Comparisons and percentages not in the release are our own arithmetic. Updated 5 October 2026.

What the official Saskatoon crime map shows

The Saskatoon Police Service links to its crime map from its home page, describing it as a way to “view reported crime incidents and traffic collisions in your neighbourhood or across the city”. From the map’s own notes:

  • Crime types: selected violation types, not every offence. Check the map’s legend for the current list.
  • Locations: the points “are intended to indicate the general area in which the incident occurred and are not intended to identify the exact incident location”.
  • Accuracy: the police say the data is “susceptible to a degree of error” and can change because of late reporting, reclassification, errors or incidents later found to be unfounded.
  • Use: the service advises against relying on the map for comparisons over time and prohibits commercial use of the data.

The Saskatoon Police Service also publishes monthly crime statistics reports, with an archive of annual reports going back to 2015, on its downloads page. Those reports are a better guide to trends than the map.

How to use the Saskatoon crime map, step by step

  1. Go to the Saskatoon Police Service website and open the Crime Map link.
  2. Search for the address or neighbourhood you care about and zoom to a sensible radius.
  3. Choose the incident types relevant to you: break-ins and vehicle theft for a home, robbery and assault for walking routes.
  4. Set the longest time range available, since a few weeks of data can mislead.
  5. Compare with an area of Saskatoon you already know.
  6. For trends, check the police service’s monthly crime statistics reports rather than counting dots.

The limits of crime maps

  • General areas only. Points mark approximate locations, so incidents can appear grouped.
  • Selected types. The map shows selected violations, not all crime.
  • Reported crime only. Statistics Canada found that only about 29% of victimizations were reported to police in 2019.
  • Footfall. Downtown, shopping, nightlife and transit areas record more incidents because more people pass through them.
  • Map counts versus CSI. The CSI weights serious crime more heavily than minor theft and is the official comparable measure.

Saskatoon crime in 2025: the key numbers

Measure Saskatoon CMA 2025 Saskatoon CMA 2024 Canada 2025
Crime Severity Index 98.9 106.3 75.0
Violent CSI 130.6 141.8 97.2
Crime rate per 100,000 7,532 7,923 5,585
Homicide rate per 100,000 2.09 (8 victims) 3.74 1.61
Robbery per 100,000 140 (535) 156 55
Break and enter per 100,000 451 (1,728) 524 262
Motor vehicle theft per 100,000 265 (1,015) 266 201

Most measures improved in 2025. Break-ins fell about 14% by rate and robbery about 11% (our arithmetic), while car theft was flat. Saskatoon’s CSI is now the lowest in Statistics Canada’s 2015–2025 series for the city, and it dropped below 100 for the first time in that period.

Saskatoon still had the tenth-highest CSI of Canada’s metro areas in 2025. It sits above Regina (87.4) but below Winnipeg (113.4). Saskatchewan as a whole had the highest provincial CSI in Canada, at 146.6.

The full figures are in Statistics Canada’s 2025 crime release and its Crime Severity Index table. Remember that a metro area’s figures blend busy city centres with quieter suburbs, so they describe the region as a whole, not any one street.
