The Crime Severity Index is a Statistics Canada measure that weights each police-reported crime by its seriousness, with Canada in 2006 set at 100. The crime rate simply counts Criminal Code incidents (excluding traffic) per 100,000 people. Our Crime Severity Index explainer shows how it is calculated, and the crime in Saskatchewan and Manitoba guide explains why the Prairie provinces rank high.

How does Brandon compare with Prairie cities?

Brandon is not a census metropolitan area (CMA), so these comparisons set a police service area against whole metro regions and should be read as approximate.
