Greater Sudbury has no public police crime map: as of 16 October 2026, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) website offers online reporting and annual reports, but no interactive map of reported incidents. The best substitutes are official statistics. Statistics Canada put the Greater Sudbury census metropolitan area’s 2025 Crime Severity Index (CSI) at 64.9, down 2% from 2024 and about 13% below Canada’s 75.0.
Data: Statistics Canada, police-reported crime statistics for 2025 (released 22 July 2026), CSI by census metropolitan area (Table 35-10-0026-01) and incidents by violation (Table 35-10-0177-01); Greater Sudbury Police Service, Annual Report 2025. Is there an official Sudbury crime map?
There is no official Sudbury crime map that the public can browse: the Greater Sudbury Police Service website, checked on 16 October 2026, links to online reporting, crime prevention pages and annual reports, but not to an incident map, statistics dashboard or open data portal. The GSPS Annual Report 2025 mentions crime analytics and focused patrols, but not a public map.
A crime map is a map of individual incidents reported to police, usually shown at block or intersection level. Ontario cities such as London, Windsor and Hamilton publish one; Greater Sudbury currently does not, and neither does Kelowna in B.C. Private “crime score” websites that rate Sudbury streets are not official police data, and we do not use them.
What Sudbury does have is good annual data. The Crime Severity Index is Statistics Canada’s measure of the volume and seriousness of police-reported crime, set at 100 for Canada in 2006. Our Crime Severity Index explainer shows how to read it, and our Ontario crime map lists the police maps that do exist in the province.
What does the GSPS Annual Report 2025 show?
The Greater Sudbury Police Service Annual Report 2025 shows criminal offences up 12.3% on 2024, with property offences up 28.9% and violent offences down 14%. These are the service’s own counts for the City of Greater Sudbury.
| Offence group (GSPS) | 2024 offences | 2025 offences | Change 2024–2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total criminal offences | 9,554 | 10,728 | +12.3% |
| Property offences | 4,609 | 5,939 | +28.9% |
| Violent offences | 2,907 | 2,499 | −14.0% |
| Share of offences cleared | 49.6% | 46.1% | −3.5 points |

The report says the property increase was “largely due to an increase in shoplifting incidents reported by local businesses”, many of them filed through the GSPS online reporting system. Break and enters fell 31%, mischief 17% and arson 48%. By our calculation, property offences were about 55% of all criminal offences in 2025 and violent offences about 23%.
The GSPS count (10,728) is higher than the Statistics Canada count for the Greater Sudbury CMA (9,306 incidents) because the two use different counting rules: the national survey classifies each incident by its most serious violation, while a police service’s annual report can count offences. Use each source for its own trend, not to compare totals.
