How do I check crime near an address in London, Ontario?

Checking crime near a London address works best when you combine the 90-day map with Statistics Canada’s yearly figures. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the map from the London Police Service crime map page.
  2. Enter the address and look at a radius of several blocks, not one street.
  3. Filter by incident type. For a home, check break and enter, auto theft and theft from vehicles. For walking, check robbery and assaults.
  4. Use the full 90 days. A week or two can look misleadingly quiet or busy.
  5. Compare with an area you know in London to get a baseline.
  6. Add the context from the official 2025 figures below and from our guide on how to check crime in your neighbourhood.
  7. Visit at different times, including evenings, before you rent or buy.

What do the dots on the London crime map really mean?

A dot on the London crime map is a recent police-reported incident at a deliberately altered location, not a measure of risk at one address. Keep three points in mind:

  • Not all dots are crimes. Motor vehicle collisions and disturbances are on the map alongside criminal offences.
  • Busy places record more. Downtown, major shopping areas and campus districts have far more people passing through, so they log more incidents.
  • Unreported crime is missing. Statistics Canada’s 2019 victimization survey found only about 29% of incidents were reported to police.

We do not rank London neighbourhoods, because no official neighbourhood-level crime rate for London is published under an open licence we can use.
