Brantford has an official crime map: the Brantford Police Service publishes an online map of police calls for service, with locations adjusted to protect privacy. On the official statistics, the Brantford metro area’s Crime Severity Index rose 8% to 72.1 in 2025, about 4% below the national 75.0 but the second-highest in Ontario, and its car theft rate was the highest of any Ontario metro area, according to Statistics Canada.
Data: Statistics Canada, police-reported crime statistics for 2025 (released 22 July 2026), Crime Severity Index by census metropolitan area (Table 35-10-0026-01) and incidents by violation (Table 35-10-0177-01). Percentages and rankings are our own calculation. Crime map, statistics page and online reporting details checked on the Brantford Police Service website on 20 October 2026. Updated 20 October 2026.

Does Brantford have a crime map?
Yes, the Brantford Police Service publishes an online crime map that gives general information about police calls for service in the City of Brantford. The map opens from the police Crime Map page in a new window, and the police recommend viewing it on a desktop computer.
A call for service is any request for police attendance or action. The Brantford Police Service says plainly that “not every call is a crime” and that some information may not be releasable. A crime map of calls for service is therefore a guide to the type of police activity near a street, not a measure of a crime rate.
The police list three caveats on the map page (checked 20 October 2026):
- Preliminary data. The map is based on preliminary information given to police by the people reporting, which may not have been verified.
- Classifications can change. A call’s category may change after further investigation, and the data may contain mechanical or human error.
- Privacy. All data on the map has been adjusted to protect personal privacy, so a point is not an exact address.
Because the map has no open licence, we link to it rather than reproduce figures from it. The numbers in this guide come from Statistics Canada.
How do I use the Brantford crime map?
- Open the map from the Brantford Police Service Crime Map page (the “Crime Map” button).
- Zoom to the street or area you care about, rather than looking at the whole city at once.
- Look at the type of call, not only the number of dots. A cluster of minor calls is different from one serious incident.
- Check over a longer period if the map allows it; a single week can be misleading.
- Compare with the city-wide picture below and with the Brantford crime rate guide, which covers the official numbers in more depth.
Calls cluster where people gather: the downtown core, shopping areas and main roads. A dot does not make a street unsafe, and a quiet area on the map is not a guarantee. Our guide on how to check crime in your neighbourhood explains the limits of police maps.
The Brantford Police Service also has a Crime Statistics page with a five-year statistical analysis for 2020–2024, presented to the Police Services Board on 3 September 2025. It is useful background for long-term trends in the city itself.
What is the crime rate in Brantford?
The Brantford census metropolitan area (CMA) had a crime rate of 5,381 police-reported incidents per 100,000 people in 2025, up 10% from 2024, according to Statistics Canada. The crime rate is the number of Criminal Code incidents, excluding traffic offences, per 100,000 residents. The Brantford CMA covers the City of Brantford and the surrounding area, so it is wider than the area shown on the police map.

Brantford is close to the national average and about a quarter above the Ontario average on both main measures: its severity index was 26% above Ontario’s and its crime rate 25% above (our calculation). The Crime Severity Index (CSI) is a Statistics Canada measure that weights each offence by its seriousness, with Canada in 2006 set at 100; our Crime Severity Index explainer covers the method.
Brantford’s mix of offences is typical in seriousness. Its CSI was 13.4 points per 1,000 incidents per 100,000 people, the same ratio as Canada as a whole (our calculation), which means crime in Brantford is neither unusually serious nor unusually minor compared with the national average.
Is car theft high in Brantford?
