Quebec City Crime Map 2026: How to Check Crime in Québec

Château Frontenac and the Old Québec skyline in Quebec City

Quebec City has no public police crime map: as of 16 October 2026, the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) offers online reporting and a yearly report, but no interactive map of reported incidents. The best substitutes are official statistics. Statistics Canada put the Québec census metropolitan area’s 2025 Crime Severity Index (CSI) at 55.0, down 1% from 2024 and about 27% below Canada’s 75.0.

Data: Statistics Canada, police-reported crime statistics for 2025 (released 22 July 2026), CSI by census metropolitan area (Table 35-10-0026-01) and incidents by violation (Table 35-10-0177-01); Service de police de la Ville de Québec, Rapport annuel 2025. City of Québec police pages checked on 16 October 2026. Percentages, rates and rankings not in these sources are our own arithmetic. Updated 16 October 2026.

Key facts

Is there an official Quebec City crime map?

There is no official Quebec City crime map that the public can browse: the City of Québec’s police pages list stations, the non-emergency line and an online report form, and the SPVQ Rapport annuel 2025 gives yearly tables, but neither offers an incident map (checked 16 October 2026). A search of Données Québec, the province’s open data portal, returns Montréal’s SPVM crime data set, not one for Quebec City.

A crime map is a map of individual incidents reported to police, usually shown at block or intersection level. In Quebec, Montréal publishes one through open data; see our Montréal crime map guide. Quebec City currently does not, so private “crime score” websites that rate its streets are not official police data, and we do not use them.

What Quebec City does have is solid yearly data. The Crime Severity Index is Statistics Canada’s measure of the volume and seriousness of police-reported crime, set at 100 for Canada in 2006. Our Crime Severity Index explainer shows how to read it.

Vehicle theft is the clearest improvement: down two years in a row and about 25% below 2023. Fraud and criminal harassment rose the most among the larger categories. By our calculation, the 2025 counts equal about 245 break-ins and 98 vehicle thefts per 100,000 people served; these city rates are higher than the metro rates below because the city holds most of the region’s shops, nightlife and visitors, and because the SPVQ and Statistics Canada count differently.

How can I check crime in Quebec City without a crime map?

  1. Start with the metro numbers. Use the Statistics Canada figures above for the overall level and trend.
  2. Read the SPVQ annual report. The Rapport annuel 2025 (in French) gives three years of counts by offence for the city.
  3. Check which police service covers the address. The SPVQ polices the City of Québec; Lévis, across the river and part of the same metro area, has its own police service.
  4. Visit at different times. Walk the street on a weekday evening and a weekend night, and look at lighting, parking and how busy it is.
  5. Compare with other cities. Our Canada crime map puts Quebec City next to every other metro area on the same official measures.

How do I report a crime in Quebec City?

In Quebec City, call 911 for an emergency, a crime in progress or any case with a witness or suspect; for non-urgent matters the SPVQ lists 418 691-6911, and an online report form covers some minor incidents (checked 16 October 2026).

The online form accepts thefts (including theft of or from a vehicle, bicycles and bags), mischief such as vandalism and graffiti, hit-and-runs on a parked vehicle, and lost items, as long as the incident is not in progress or urgent and there is no witness or suspect. You need a valid email address, and you receive an official file number for insurance. The SPVQ’s main station is at 495 boulevard Louis-XIV and is open 24 hours a day. Our guide on how to report a crime in Canada covers the general rules.
